Saving these animals takes the best medical care available. That is why the project is run by professional veterinarians who specialize in the treatment of marine mammals. Sometimes the babies are wounded by machetes or propellors of the so-called peque-peque canoes. Often they suffer from inflamed intestines, gastroenteritis or other infections caused by an unappropriate diet.
