Oye, GRINGO!
(Hey, stranger!)
Welcome to Iquitos! We hope you are enjoying your stay in our city.
If you are wondering how you can help us make this an even better place
than it already is, we would like to ask you a small favor.
You may have noticed that in Iquitos, recycling is not quite where
it should be. Sure, plastic bottles get recycled, which is a great start,
but glass, paper, aluminum, and all kinds of toxic waste do not. It may take time, but sooner or later,
all of the disposed garbage ends up in the river.
Here at the office of ikitos.com, we have decided to try and help improve the
situation somewhat. So we are collecting dead batteries (of the Duracell
variety, not car batteries). We
would like to ask you to come by our office, pick up a handful and recycle them
when you get home.
We will carefully wrap the batteries in small plastic bags, each
with a note with the name and (e-mail) address of the original owner. It
may give you an opportunity to get to know some of the locals who share
your concern for our precious environment.
We are looking forward to welcoming you at our office. The address
is:
iPeru
Loreto 101
Corner of Raimundi
(at three blocks from the Plaza de Armas)
Please help us save our precious Amazon
environment!
